Transport firms make list of top Welsh businesses

THREE TRANSPORT firms are among Wales" top 3(X) businesses in a list compiled by the Western Mail.
Cardiff-based Rhys Davies Freight Logistics was highest placed at 189, despite a significant fall in profit-down to just £175.000 on a f29m turnover.
Business implementation manager Gary Phillips says: "Our profit is down £340,000. due to many of our customers shutting down. But our turnover has risen by about £2m and we see ourselves having a good 2007."
Also listed are Llanelli-based Owens Road Services at 281 and Cross Hands haulier NR Evans & Son at 296. Dealers Euro Commercials and Cardiff Truck Centre made it at 228 and 236 respectively.
• Owens has taken delivery of three new lveco Stralis Active Space tractor units. They are the first Euro-4, digitach-equipped trucks in a fleet of more than 250.
The Stralis tractors feature the 12.9-litre Cursor engine rated at 4801tp/2,200Nm.
