The money will cover up to 60 per cent of the total cost of projects judged to "contribute to the realisation of the common transport policy."
The projects will concentrate on improving the main trunk routes, eliminating bottlenecks and improvements to transport of goods and passengers.
West Germany has also benefited from the allocation of aid. It has been granted nearly £6m.
