But once you're ready to roll, it's a straightforward job -just drive! With the l-shift, you can concentrate on the road ahead: easily spotting any rogue pedestrians or ow Hats. And it's a relaxing drive.
Once you've arrived at the delivery address, simply swivel the driver's char to get out, go up the step into the parcel area then exit on to the pavement. It certainly removes much of the effort and danger involved with conventional parcel deliveries. Running a successful delivery company is all about achieving the maximum number of drops in the most efficient time, so any innovation which helps to boost productivity has to be welcome.
But this probably won't be a popular vehicle in the UK, where pallets and parcels tend to be handled by different firms. All the same, the DCV proves that the concept has potential, so we look forward to seeing Schenker's long-term evaluation and whether Volvo decides to get involved.
