DA IMLERCI IRYSLER and Fiat Powertrain Technologies (FPT) have agreed a major supply deal. which will see the Fuso Canterfitted with an FPT engine from 2009.
FPT will supply around 80,000 Fl C engines a year to Mitsubishi Fuso,with volumes increasing over time. The engine is a common-rail unit, rated at 177hp at 3,500 rpm and with 400Nm of torque at 1,4(X) rpm.
The two companies are investigating further business opportunities in other markets, including South-East Asia. Andreas Renschler, a member of the Daimler Chrysler board of management and responsible for its Truck Group. says:"Today is a milestone for the DaimlerChrysler Truck Group in many ways. With this alliance we have reached the best decision for our Fuso customers, as we will offer them the most modern,technologically advanced and ecologically friendly light duty engine for their businesses. It will deliver high performance combined with highly competitive fuel efficiency."
