• Harvey Bradfield and Toyer Ltd. held its second lorry driver competition at Ruislip on Saturday. The following awards were made:
Hamilton Cup, for the overall individual winner, to R. Hayden. Stevenage depot: Bishops Bowl, the team award, to the Stevenage depot (R. Haydon, P. Clark, R. B. Rowland); Sternol Challenge Cup, for the best individual score in any three tests out of four, excluding the Hamilton Cup winner. to M. B. White, Ruislip depot: Best Depot Driver, N. Hack (Byfleet). D. F. Jones (Didcot), D. Hogg (Ruislip), R. B. Rowland (Stevenage) and F. J. Clark IThundersley).
• The North Western Traffic Commissioners on Wednesday approved Manchester Corporation's application to increase fares of the traditional twoman operated buses while those on o-m-o and Minimax services will remain unchanged (CM January 24 1969), The increases would bring in £772,000 per annum to offset an estimated deficit of £977,230 for the year ending March 31 1970. The fid fare for stages 1 and 2 will remain but stages 3 and 4 will become 9d. and all other fares will be increased by 3d.
