LONDON's much maligned Daimler Fleetline buses have been cited as one of the main reasons for London Transport's bus unreliability problems over the past few years.
In a report to the Monopolies and Mergers Commission which is considering London Transport bus maintenance, the Greater London Council blames "off-thepeg" buses for not coping adequately with the arduous operating conditions of Greater London.
The report adds that these buses are now being replaced with more reliable designs.
GLC opposition transport spokesman Cyril Taylor said the report was a "whitewash". He would like the privatisation of LT bus maintenance considered.
