THE NEXT Government should spend over £7bn on improving the urban road system in Britain, and £4bn of it in London, according to the British Road Federation.
In addition, the BRF wants another £250m — a 10 per cent increase in expenditure levels — to be spent this year alone on local road maintenance, and for Transport Supplementary Grant to be increased so that local authorities do not continue to underspend their capital allocations.
