Reading on the Sunday and started from that town on the Monday morning, .mak, ing for Bath on the first day, Weymouth on the second day, Portsmouth on the third day, Hastings on the fourth day, Tonbridge on the fifth day, finishing at Slough on Saturday, the total scheduled mileage being -581 . (but, as explained in the account which follows, this mileage was materially exceeded):
• Below we give a table which contains particulars of the machines taking part. including name of the entrant, name of engine and its h.p., the make of the sidecar, type of body, the weight of the ballast carried on each machine, and the gross weight of each machine. These weights are important to place on record as defining the capabilities of eack vehicle.
