• "Long haul", the new colour film depicting road transport in Europe, will be shown as an extra item — illustrating a paper on Continental transport methods — at Commercial Motor's Fleet Management Conference on September 21.
The film, which states a convincing case for the growing road haulage network on the Continent, runs for 27 minutes and provides a topical insight into conditions "over there". It has been made by Shell, and the CM conference will be one of its earliest public screenings.
Bookings for the conference now top 300 and are still coming in fast. As last year, we have set a limit of 500, and intending delegates should make reservations with IPC Business and Industrial Training Ltd, 161 Fleet Street, London EC4 (tel: 01-353 5011). The fee is £12.50.
The conference programme this year includes presentations on vehicle replacement policy, industrial relations in road transport, the use of computers in vehicle selection, implications of VAT, and road freight practices on the Continent.
