• A West Midland own-account operator who failed to keep 0-licence application undertakings had his licence curtailed under Section 69 at a public inquiry in Birmingham on Tuesday.
D.P.W. Tippers of Shrewsbury held an O licence authorizing three vehicles and the West Midland LA, Mr John Else, heard that an inspection of the one vehicle operated was carried out by DoE vehicle examiner Mr A. E. Perry in May this year.
The vehicle itself was found to be in a satisfactory condition though proper records relating to its maintenance could not be produced. It was stated at this time that the vehicle was maintained by Mr G. Dawkins, one of the three partners in D.P.W. Tippers, at a local garage, although no inspection of the garage premises or facilities was made by the examiner.
Mr Dawkins told the LA he now intended to have the vehicle maintained on a regular basis at a local garage which would keep R HA-type records.
Mr Else decided to curtail the licence by removing the margin of two vehicles which had not been acquired.
