II A cab claimed to be among the longest factory-fitted sleeper cabs available in the light truck sector has just been added by Daewoo Avia to its 1)-Line light truck range. Known in the UK as the 4 Star Sleeper Cab, it has a bumper to back-ofcab dimension of 2,400mm. Available on both the 7.5-tonne 1175 and 9.0-tonne 1390 models, it adds 650mm to the overall cab length and is fitted with a bunk measuring 2,010 x 650 x 140mm. The bunk can be left in place when not in use, thanks to the overall cab size, but is hinged to provide access to under-bed storage of 200 litres. Other cab features include a single adjustable passenger seat, windowless rear wall as standard and an adjustable reading light.
Daewoo's only previous sleeper option on the 0-Line was a Czech-made top sleeper. "This extends the D-Line into a new sector;" says marketing director Andy Granger. Ex-VAT list price for the sleeper-cabbed 1)7615 £20,900 compared with 118,300 for the day-cabbed version. On the 1190, the sleeper-cabbed unit costs £22,550 compared with 119,950 for the non-sleeper version.
Granger admits the new sleeper cab isn't the cheapest on the market. "But in terms of pounds per cubic foot, it's still good value for money," he says.
