A TWENTY per cent reduction in tyre costs has been claimed by Blackburn haulier W. H. Bowker using an HPA Unilux optional wheel aligner.
Following the introduction of tri-axle trailers for 38tonne operation the company began to experience abnormal tyre wear. Bowker has 200 trailers, 70 per cent of which are tri-axle.
"The equipment allows wheel alignment to be checked by a single mechanic in about 30 minutes and is not 4ffected by side guards or other obstacles", says Bowker's technical director Geoff Whittle. "We now save up to 0.57p a mile per tyre".
