PERKINS ENGINES has consolidated its position as the leading UK proprietary diesel engine manufacturer since its acquisition of RollsRoyce Diesels last year.
Perkins, with 1,931 units, took 63.5 per cent of the UK proprietary diesel engine sales in the first quarter of 1985. These figures are based on vehicle registration. Cummins was next with 955 units and Gardner, with 122 units sold, took just four per cent of the market.
More than 1.2m 5.8-litre 6.3544 six cylinder engines have been manufactured by Perkins worldwide.
