BUSINESS POST doubled its pre-tax profits to £4.8m on turnover up 9% to £167m in the first half of 2007.
Turnover in Business Post's specialist services division, which includes palletised goods and its courier service, was down 0.9% at £20.9m; the turnover of its courier service dropped 10% to £5.7m.
However, turnover for the palletised goods business increased by 3% to £15.2m.
One of the group's successes in 2007 was in mail delivery, where turnover rose nearly 60% to £59.6m in the first half. In September Business Post handled 130 million items of post, representing 7.5% of the total market, compared with 5.5% in March.
