LORD MARSHALL became president of the Institute of Transport Administration at the 39th Annual loTA conference, succeeding Lord Lucas of Chilworth.
Lord Marshall has been vicepresident of the executive committee of the Automobile Association and was a special adviser to the Government on the third London airport project in 1972.
He was a vice-chairman of the Conservative Party at one stage of his career, and has served in many public offices, including the Yorks and Humberside Economic Planning Authority and the Centre for Environmental Studies.
A native of Yorkshire, Lord Marshall was educated at Queen Elizabeth's School, Wakefield and at Downing College, Cambridge. He became a partner with Leeds based solicitors, Hepworth & Chadwick, a director of Barr & Wallace Arnold Trust, and is a past president of the Leeds & Holbeck Building Society.
