• Road Haulage Association director-general Steven Norris has told the UK haulage industry to follow the example of French haulage giant Norbert Dentressangle if they want to achieve better business performance.
Speaking at a dinner to celebrate Norbert Dentressangle's 20th anniversary, Norris praised the company's achievement and its professionalism.
"Norbert constantly sets increased targets for itself," said Norris. "UK companies need to follow its professional example. Theirs is an admirable story."
Peter Cvetkovic, managing director of Norbert Dentressangle UK, says his company should post a turnover of /..50m by the end of this year and plans more acquisitions to help it achieve this target.
Cvetkovic says the relaxation of cabotage regulations has had no effect on the company: he does not expect it to herald an onslaught of foreign vehicles and companies entering the UK to take British drivers' jobs as the RHA predicted.
