TRICO-FOLBERTH Ltd has introduced a remote-control air tank draining system for commercial vehicles. It consists of pneumatic drain valves which replace the manual drain cocks fitted to the reservoirs, a safety control, a manifold or tee pieces and the piping to connect them.
The drain valves are machined from brass, with phosphor bronze springs to avoid corrosion, and are controlled from a push-button unit to which they are piped using tee pieces for up to three reservoirs or a manifold for up to six reservoirs.
The push-button control can be mounted anywhere on the chassis, or indeed in the cab, but Trico does not recommend this because of the possibility of the valve being accidentally operated while the vehicle is moving.
Kits are available from parts factors and commercial vehicle garages, and the typical retail price of a kit for a heavy vehicle is around £64.
