A YOUNG ARTIST, Thomas Eisl, wants to stage a six-month exhibition in London's Smithfield Market of photographs of vehicles and drivers delivering meat and poultry — 300,000 tons a year — there.
The pictures taken by Thomas and by drivers, with occasional historical studies, would be changed continuously. He says he already has about 1200 negatives connected with the project to be mounted in Grand Avenue, the covered public road running through the middle of the market.
According to Thomas, "the market authorities have . . informally given their consent" and "the, Arts Council have in
dicated their willingness to support this project. . . ." How much they are willing to contribute is unknown and the artist is looking for ten sponsors to provide £350 each.
