• Schmitz is moving away from its traditional UK fare of reefer trailers with an increasing number of curtainsider sales. The firm recently built a dedicated curtainsider factory next to its existing plant in Harelaw, County Durham, and has been offering both quick-build standard trailers and bespoke models.
Former CM Livery Competition winner Johnsons of Whixley has bought a highly specified curtainsider for transporting plants, including everything from the smallest individual pot plant to an 11In tree.
The York-based nursery business opted for a Dhollandia tuck-away tail lift matched to the Danish trolley system generally used for plant transport. The trailer also features aluminium drop sides for load retention and to protect the chassis from fork-lift damage, as well as side skirts.
