Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

J. W. Walker, 204 pages published by HFL (Publishers) Ltd, £3.95.

E IF you get financial indigestion every time you try to learn simple accountacy then instant relief could be yours this Christmas. Making Sense of Finance and Accounts in Business by J. W. Walker puts the mysterious language of the accountant into easily understood terms.

This is a layman's book and as such might not hold much appeal for the professional or aspiring accountant.

Except, perhaps as a gift for his confused clients.

The 204 pages will not produce accountants, but they do make the subject easier to understand. Possibly the logical, simple approach to the subject results from the author starting his career as an engineer — he knows the weaknesses.

It is presented simply as a comprehensive'hydrauliemodel which should appeal to the engineering brain.

This also applies to the clarity of the diagrams and the simplicity of the language.

Perhaps the gulf between the accountant and the engineer could be bridged if the finance man sent his mechanical colleague a copy; at £3.95 it would not be a dear experiment.

It is published by HFL (Publishers) Ltd, 9 Bow Street, Covent Garden, London WC2E 7AL.
