• General haulier Cardiff International went into liquidation last week with the loss of 30 jobs and debts mounting to between film and £1.3m.
The international haulier. based in Redwas near Caerphilly, ran to the Continent, Poland and other former eastern bloc countries. Existing orders are being fulfilled but the company stopped accepting new orders last Wednesday.
Creditors seized loaded and unloaded trailers on the Continent last Monday, causing a loss of confidence among other
creditors, says the liquidator. P&O is one of the largest among the 130 creditors: it is owed £228,000.
Cardiff International's assets, which include 20 tractors and five trailers, monies owed and property, will be sold next month. The 13-year-old company was owned by two directors.
The creditors meeting is next Thursday (30 December) and will be at liquidator Grant Thornton's offices at 11:00hrs in Cardiff. It is too early to know if a dividend will be paid to creditors, says the liquidator.
