A COMMERCIAL VEHICLE was described as a warehouse on wheels by Simba Security Systems managing director Robert Dunley, when he spoke last week about vehicle security.
He told delegates that there were definite differences between the conventional warehouse and a commercial vehicle, and the warehouse could be made more secure.
A warehouse stays in one place and security systems can be incorporated during the building stage, whereas a commercial vehicle is always moving, and is mOre vulnerable. With a commercial vehicle, the security advisor is the last person to be called in, and day to day security is in the hands of the driver. Any system must be simple and automatically operated when the driver leaves the vehicle, he said.
The most effective system is the frequency type which relies on noise made during any attempt to force entry to a vehicle or trailer.
