RENEWED efforts to abolish tolls and have the £500m, and rising, toll debt written off are being made by the Freight Transport Association.
It has commissioned research from economists from Leicester University into the question and what would be involved if tolls were abolished.
The research will be presented before Easter to the House of Commons transport committee for its inquiry on toll crossings.
An FTA spokesman told CM that there "wasn't a snowballs chance in hell" in paying off the €5 0 Om debt by toll revenues.
