NEW diesel-engined-vehicle immobilizer has been produced by the AFA Group (Vehicle Security Division), which features the type EVJ magnetic solenoid valve marketed by Danfoss (London) Ltd., 6 Wadsworth Road, Perivale, Greenford, Middx.
A plunger is linked to the fuel pump by a spring-loaded cable and a key in the plunger knob is connected to a magnetic valve in the fuel line. When the driver operates the plunger and turns the key his action locks the fuel-pump stop and causes the magnetic valve to cut off the fuel.
In one variation of the system, a special oil-pressure switch is wired to an alarm which is switched on when the engine stops unless the immobilizer is operative and additional protection may be provided by connecting the alarm to the doors.
