Colin Graham of Henbury, aristol, had admitted failing to take the required daily rest while driving in May.
Prosecuting for the VI, Nicki Darby said that Graham had driven for eight hours without a break.
One magistrate said they had no guidelines for fixing the fine and asked Darby what the average fixed penalty for the offence should he.
Graham was then fined £50 with E70 costs.
