ASDA 1/VAL-MART workers at the firm's distribution depots in Chepstow. Monmouthshire, and Frith, London. have voted to recognise the GMB union in a secret ballot conducted by Electoral Reform Services (FRS).
These two ballots are the first to he held at the 24 Asda Wal-Mart distribution depots under the deal reached between GMB and Asda Wal-Mart on 29June.which staved off strike action. GMB members already have collective bargaining rights in nine of the 24 depots.
Paul Kenny, GMB general secretary, says: "GMB looks forward to a long and constructive relationship with the company in these two depots and the other 22 depots.
