• Ronald Livingstone, trading as Dunfermline Carriers, escaped with a warning when he appeared before Scottish DTC Richard MacFarlane at an Edinburgh disciplinary inquiry, following a number of convictions for drivers' hours offences.
Costly tyre
• Using a vehicle with a defective tyre has cost Manchester haulier Joseph Bates £155. Bates said he was unaware of the defect but was convicted by the city's magistrates, who fined him £100 with £55 costs.
Lost appeal
• Surrey County Council and Mole Valley District Council have lost appeals against the decision of South Eastern & Metropolitan IC Brigadier Michael Turner, authorising Ford contractors to use Old Inholms Farm, Holmwood, for five vehicles and a trailer. However, the Transport Tribunal imposed a condition on the direction in which vehicles should enter and leave the site.
Fortnight's suspension
• The licence held at Plains by Airdrie-based Robert Elliott has been suspended for a fortnight by Scottish DTC Richard MacFarlane. Elliott had been called before the DTC at a Glasgow disciplinary inquiry because of concern over his maintenance record.
