FASHION RETAILER New Look has confirmed that DTS Logistics will be managing its new national distribution centre at Newcastle-under-Lyme which is due to open this autumn.

Investment in the 37,000m= site will result in the closure of New look's distribution operation in Weymouth with the loss of 580 jobs.

Senior logistics manager Paul Bennett says the number of drivers will remain constant at 140 but they will be located in different parts of the country.

"Anybody who wants to can stay," he concludes. "but obviously, some of them won't." Bennett reports that the new warehouse willemploy about 350 people.

North Londonbased DTS will run the New Look operation on a hub-andspoke basis. Its parent group Clipper now has a network of 18 distribution centres, a 500-strong fleet and 1,400 employees.
