A CLAIM for unfair dismissal against Fife and Kinross Motor Auctions Limited of Kinross was refused by the Scottish Industrial Tribunal on June 3.
It decided that because the nature of the firm's work had altered, with there being less plant to move and less longdistance haulage to carry, there was a clear need to cut back on drivers.
William Duncan, the driver bringing the claim, said that he had been employed for longer than some of those who were retained, but the Tribunal accepted the firm's explanation that it had only wanted to retain drivers who had other skills, which Mr Duncan had not.
