ANEW light box van, which will deal with loads. of .6 cwt. of even fairly bulky goods, has been placed upon the market by Fiat (England), Ltd., 43-44, Albemarle Street, London, W.1, at the price of £195 complete, and those users to whom it has already been shown have regarded it with great favour, and a number of orders has already been received by the makers.
The loading space of the vehicle is
ft. 3 ins. long, 3 ft. 4 ins, wide and 3 ft. 7 ins. high, this space being given on a wheelbase of 8 ft. 44 ins., and with an overall length of 11 ft. 6 ins.
The body is strong as well as light, and has two doors at the rear virtually opening to the full width of the vehicle, and it has a full partition behind the driver's seat the sides of the van being strongly slatted in order to protect'th panels from damage and to allow for the fitting of shelves. The driver's seat gives comfortable accommociat.on for two persons and is well upholstered on a spring mattress frame and a full spring squab is provided. The tool and aecutumator boxes are fitted below the; seat. To protect the driver and passenger a two-panel, metal-framed windscreen is fitted, the top panel being ad justable, whilst for the sides roll-up curtains with celluloid lights are provided.
The van is smart in appearance, its wings being dome-shaped and its running boards being covered with aluminium. Economy in running and in cost of maintenance and a good turn 'of speed on the road have been aimed at by the makers. •
The power unit is a four-cylinder mouobloc engine with a cylinder 'bore of 57 mm. and a piston stroke of 97 mm., the. .head being detachable, and the engine having' overhead valves operated by-an overhead camshaft driven by silent 'chain' gear. The clutch is a
single dry plate,' fabric lined. The gearbox gives three speeds forward and a reverse. • The wheels are equipped With pneumatic tyres, and the mannfacturers guarantee the vehicle for six months.
