AThree types of records should be kept
and be available for inspection by the Board's staff on request: training records, written training programmes and certificates of attendances at courses.
As to training records the Board does not specify the exact form so as to ensure record-keeping is kept to a minimum. However. the records should provide such basic information as the name and age of trainees, their occupation, period of service and the type and length of training undertaken. Other information could include the name of the college and the day of week released, period of block release and the name and dates of courses attended.
Written training programmes need not follow necessarily the examples given by the RTITB provided they give evidence of commonsense approach to the planning of training. Such programmes should show the content, length and aim of training in order to support a grant claim.
Firms must support any grant claim based on attendance at a course by a certificate or report detailing the attendance. This requirement is met by the sessional report normally issued by an institution of Further Education.
