I Leyland Daf chief executive eorge Simpson is leaving the iglo-Dutch truck company to !come managing director of aver Group cars, with effect am 1 January 1989.
Frans Klaasen, currently in large of Leyland Dais manucturing interests on the Content, will succeed Simpson, Ipported by two managing rectors in John Gilchrist and aide, Philips.
Gilchrist is switching from anaging director of Leyland ,ancashire) operations to anaging director Leyland Daf K (in charge of the Glasgow, ?.yland and Birmingham facries) and Philips is moving am production director of the "esterlo (Belgium) plant to anaging director of the 'oup's Continental factories in e Netherlands and Belgium. The moves strengthen Daf introl of the company and will :raid faster and closer ingration of Britain's plants with those on the Continent.
With Leyland Daf s Eindhoven plant now working at full capacity, the company has said that any future manufacturing output increases will have to come from factories in the UK.
