Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

FOREIGN TRUCK drivers may be more likely to hit railway bridges because they are confused by UK height restriction signs, says Network Rail.

The rail company has not analysed how many accidents involve foreign registered vehicles hula spokesman says: "Anecdotally, foreign trucks seem to be involved quite often." He was speaking after a bridge near Stoke-on-Trent was struck for the 96th time since 1994.a rate that is approaching one incident a month.

Network Rail is "bemused" as to why the bridge on Stoke Road, near the junction with Station Road in Shelton, is hit so frequently. Their spokesman says that £25,000 has been spent on making the bridge more visible.

"There appears to be no reason why these accidents should happen, except for drivers trying to take trucks that are too high under it," he adds.

In an effort to cut the number of bridge-bashing incidents nationally, Network Rail is contributing to a Highways Agency project to list all low bridges on a website.
