A SINGLE-POST roof support and side curtains which can be pulled right round to the front of the body are fresh options announced for the Tautliner range of curtainsided bodies from Boalloy.
The curtains can be drawn clear of the body sides to leave clear loading access along both sides. The twin-track curtain rail runs right round the vehicle and either of the two curtains can be released from its front fixing and be drawn to the front or partially down the opposite side of the body.
The single centre pillar, made possible by a cruciform roof brace design, provides greater utilisation of deck space.
Evaluation trials with Allied Breweries (UK) Ltd, have produced fast loading times; using a special double-length forklift truck two pallets are loaded at a time from one side of the vehicle.
To keep within legal load limits the Allied Breweries trailers carry only 20 pallets. Loading is carried out from the rear and space remaining at the front is taken up by a sliding header which is strapped securely to the leading pallets to prevent load sliding. Unladen trailer weight is 5.8 tonnes (5.7 tons).
