The Business Continuity Institute has a five-point plan for dealing with crises:
• Identify the key functions of the business that would prevent it operating if lost for even a short period of time *Work out the fall-back measures needed to ensure those functions are maintained in the event of a crisis • Draw up a comprehensive business continuity plan, deciding the main priorities for action and identifying who has the main responsibility for its implementation • Develop a culture of personal responsibility throughout the workforce for business continuity during a crisis • Ensure that the plan remains relevant and workable by running regular training sessions and rehearsals
