seeking further information about a claimed non-smoke-producing diesel fuel patented by the Esso Research and Engineering Corporation of New Jersey, U.S.A.; this was stated in a report submitted to the Manchester Health Committee on Tuesday by Mr. J. Graham, chief public health inspector.
The British patent (888,325) for this fuel was summarized in The Commercial Motor on July 13, 1962, and in this journal on September 21 last there was a report of London Transport's researches into the effects of fuel and additives on exhaust smoking; this revealed that no fuel possessing special features in respect of smoke entliSSiDll had yet, been brought to London Transport's notice.
