maintenance record when it appeared at a Bristol disciplinary inquiry. The company holds a licence for 16 vehicles and 15 trailers.
Vehicle examiner Kevin Adlam told Western Traffic Commissioner Philip Brown that while some of the company's vehicles had attracted several prohibition notices, none showed a significant maintenance failure.
"Although all the correct systems seem to be in place and working, this operator has 11:1 prohibitions in five years," he added.
Adlam added that he considered the company was one of the better operators, with fairly well maintained vehicles. "I wouldn't expect a repetition of these prohibitions," he said.
Managing director Craig Vincent said the company had been operating for 60 years and was embarrassed by the situation it was in. Operations director David Hardiman had made recommendations to the board about the maintenance of ifs vehicles.
Mr Hardimar had reported to the main board concerns about the qualify of maintenance from our workshop," said Vincent. "Although we had our own workshop, we didn't feel we had the technical equipment required to service and maintain our trucks."
He reported that the workshop had now been closed and the maintenance had been entrusted to a subsidiary in Yeovil.
