THE NEW management team at Amtrak Express Parcels is scrutinising all aspects of the business in a bid to return it to profitability.
Amtrak went into administration with KPMG earlier this month before Netfold stepped in to buy it. Amtrak's 1,000 employees and 200 vehicles are being transferred.
Executive director Gerry Ruffell says: "At the moment our plan is purely to return it to profitability. We are looking at every single aspect of the company... to see where we can improve it by reducing costs and adding revenue." He adds:"We have no plans to change the footprint of the business.
Ron Series, who was executive chairman of Tuffnells Parcels Express, will become chairman; Alan Jones, ex-group MD of Nippress Continental, becomes MD. replacing Jonathan Smith. Ruffell says Smith is unlikely to stay with the company.
