DEPOSITS in water jackets cause unequal cooling, leading to distortion and possibly even to fracture of manifold, cylinder castings, or heads. Their removal constitutes a serious problem, for the deposit is usually hard and tenacious and the application, of mechanical means for its dispersal is limited by inaccessibility.
Maintenance engineers will, therefore, be interested to learn that Barimar, Ltd., 14-18, Lamb's Conduit Street, London, W.C.1, has developed a process by which the operation can be successfully performed without any dismantling, or, of course, damage to the metal parts. The company is now offering this facility even when no welding, with which the name of Barimar is so closely associated, is required.
The process is carried out by chemical means, no heat treatment being employed.
