match company needs. Year in Industry carries out the legwork in the selection and recruitment process, provides students with a management training course and advises employers on how to make the most of their placements. The employer will have continuing contact throughout the student's university years as well as access to final year undergraduates.
2 The company offers employment for one academic year on its normal terms and conditions, although many students also return for holiday placements. The work must be real, meaningful and challenging. The company must pay a wage of £8,000 to £12,000 a year. It may decide to pay more if a student is living away from home. The employer must also pay £1,633 to Year in Industry to cover training and operational costs.
3 The student agrees to observe the employer's terms and conditions, be appraised by the company and attend training sessions organised by Year in Industry. They must be 'self motivated, a self starter and display intitiative'.
