AS announced in TIIE CommEriciAr. MOTOit of two weeks ago, Commercial Cars, Ltd., is producing a three-wheeled parcel-carrier to meet the growing demands for light highspeed delivery vehicles for small tradesmen. The following particulars have been supplied to us by the makers, together with the two outline 'drawings which are reproduced herewith. As stated, the machine of the three-wheeled type, the single rear-wheel being the driver, whilst the box-type body, which is placed between the leading wheels, has a capacity for five cwt. of merchandise. The frame is of weldless steel tube with brazed joints. A singlecylinder 4 h.p. JA. P. engine 3i in. in diameter with a piston-stroke 4 in. long will be fitted, the, cooling of the engine being effected by rotary fans which blow air on to the. cast-iron cooling fins. The crankshaft is of case-hardened steel. A Bosch high-tension magneto and an automatic carburetter is fitted, the lubrication also being automatic.
A single roller chain will be employed to transmit the drive from the crankshaft: o a two-speed epicyclic gear that is built into the 'Feick axle. Wherever possible, the
wearing surfaces are of case-harlened steel. All the road-wheels are 2)3 in. in diameter with 2i in. heavysection pneumatic tires. It will be noticed that, unlike most vehicles of the same capacity, the " Commer-car " carrier will have wheel-steering in place of the tiller that is more usually employed for such machines. One of the special features of the frame is that one portion can instantaneously be removed so as to allow the backwheel tire to be taken off.
The price of the machine complete, fitted with a well-finished box body, is a-pproximately £.05.
