MR. W. H. AUSTIN has been elected chairman of the West Midland area of the Passenger Vehicle Operators' Association.
MR. G. ARMSTRONG. general manager of Accrington Transport Department, is to take up his appointment as general manager at Exeter on September 1.
MR. C. FIELD, works manager, Ma. F. G. Tratarms, foundry manager, and MR. E. R. Dumas', sales manager, have been appointed directors of G. Clancey, Ltd., the prominent maker of valve guides and tappets.
MR. E. Woo() has been elected chairman of the Eastern Sub-area of the London and Home Counties' area of the Traders' Road Transport Association. MR. H. DRIVER and MR. H. C. CHANDLER have been elected vice-chairmen. Ma. H. CHAPMAN is chairman of the Association's new mid-Kent Section.
MR. G. R. REtve has been appointed special representative in The mileage and national users' division and sales assistant to the manager, Mr. E. ADDIS. of the Goodyear Tyre and Rubber Co. (Gt. Britain), Ltd. Another Goodyear appointment is that of MR. R. HOLMES, who becomes administrative assistant to the manager. mileage division.
MR. J. F. E. PYE, chairman and managing director of H. Pye and Son. Ltd.. has recently returned from a month's visit to the Gold Coast, British West Africa. where he has business interests. During -recent years he has greatly expanded his company's business of supplying vehicles to meet C
hiring allowances. The warehousing and storage division of his concern is also proving most successful. Recently appointed to the Transport Users Consultative Committee for the southwestern area, he was stated by the Ministry of Transport to be a director of Pye Transport, Ltd.; actually. he resigned from this position when that company was acquired.
MR. A. CUSICK has been re-elected chairman of the Institute of Traffic Administration's Manchester and district centre. MR. R. WILDE continues as secretary.
DR. A. Y. HOLLAND, of the research laboratory of the King's Norton factory of the Triplex Safety Glass Co., Ltd., has been elected vice-president of the Society of Glass Technology.
MR. S. S. ROBSON has been re-elected chairman of the Northern area of the Traders' Road Transport Association. He and MR. S. G. GORRILL, MR. R. RYAN and MR. J. THWAITES were norMnated to the national council.
• MR. C. W. H. SPARROW, of George Neal, Ltd., has been unanimously re-elected chairman of the Metropolitan and South-eastern area, Road Haulage Association.
