'Ere mate, don't look now but the Old Bill is watching you! Luckily Steve Creed, an KV driver from fiverton in Devon, has nothing to fear from the boys in blue. For Steve is an enthusiastic collector of police memorabilia and is pictured here with his pride and joy; a 1954 Wolslay 4/44 former Metropolitan police car. Ah, remember when there was the sound of friendly bells instead of wailing sirens?
Steve bought the car five years ago for £120. Then it was a wreck, having lain derelict in
a barn for 18 years. In two short years the car was restored to pristine condition and Steve had become an avid collector with a vast array of historic police artifacts.
He now visits classic car shows throughout the country and is seen here at Shepton Mallet during the two-day 21st Footman James Classic Vehicle show held at the Royal Bath and West Showground.
I have to own up to having my collar felt once. Of course it was all a terrible mix-up and suffice to say I will never be wearing that raincoat again...
