West Ham Town Council has accepted the Dennis tender, at £875, for a motor fire-engine, and that of Messrs. Lloyd and Plaister, at £782 Os. 0d., for a motor fireescape.

Sheffield Corporation has accepted the tender of the Dunlop Rubber Co., Ltd., for a supply Of solid rubber motorbus tires. A set of tires is also to be ordered from the Liga Tyres, Ltd.

At a recent meeting of the Wakefield City Council, the Mayor, Ald. Kingswell, and M. G. A. Moorhouse were appointed to consider the question of the purchase of a motor fire engine by the Corporation.

Vancouver Tests.

Reports are to hand, from Vancouver, of the satisfactory conduct of 14 tests with the city's new Cornrnercar-Simonis 'fire-engine. The accounts relate how, amongst these tests, 200 gallons of water a, minute were thrown on a building 1000 ft. away from the water, and 840 gallons a minute at a distance of 300 ft. Tests with various lengths of hose, and many selections of nozzles, were made, entirely to the satisfaction of the fire chief. The receipts of the National Steam Car Co., Ltd., for the week ended 21st September, 1913, were .£3695. This shows an increase of 4:1521 over the corresponding week of 1912, The receipts of the Tramways (M.E.T.) Omnibus Co., Ltd., for the week ended lath September, 1913, were £91.40, and for the Gearles,s Omnibus Co., Ltd., £631. This shows an increase of £1745 and 291 respectively as against the previous week.

Agreed Stopping-places.

As a result of a meeting of the representatives „of. the West Ham Municipal Tramways and the

the Commissioner of Police has drawn out a list of stopping-places for buses and trams, with certain suggested arrangements ; he will, in due course, frame and issue regulations in accordance therewith. 'This mutual action will do away with the present obstruction and danger which is caused by the cars and buses when they stop close together at certain road junctions. Tottenham U.D.C. expects to install a motor-ambulance service before long.

Reading Corporation has included in a Bill for new Parliamentary powers clauses to provide for authority to run both trolleybuses and independent motorbuses. Proposals are in hand for the development of newly-aided areas.

Mr. Ernest Alfred West has been confirmed in his provisional appointment of receiver and manager of the Provincial Motor Cab Co., Ltd. (in liquidation), arising out of a motion that was entered by the United Investment Corporation, Ltd., and others.
