EMPLOYEES of America's sixth largest haulage company, which rejoices in the way-out name of Spector-Red Ball Inc, of Dallas, offered to lend the firm 15 per cent of their pay to save it from bankruptcy. But to no avail. The general haulage division has sunk with the loss of 6,500 jobs.
The cause has been described as "a one-two punch of deregulation and the recessionl" I suspect the evil hand of J.R., the scourge of Dallas. But there may still be time for Peter Thompson to fly out on his day off and organise a rescue operation by the staff.
