DRIVING arrangements for connecting the clutch to a remote gearbox form the subject of patent No. 912,627. (Vauxhall Motors Ltd., Luton, Beds.) Referring to the drawing, it will be seen that the engine and clutch unit (I) transmit the drive to the gearbox (2) which is evidently intended to be combined with the final drive unit at the rear. The driven plate of the clutch is mounted on a splined hub in the orthodox manner, and the drive is taken through a tubular sleeve (3) carried on a rearward extension of the crankshaft (4) by means of sleeve bearings. The sleeve (3) carries a universal joint (5) coupled to a short
n32 propeller shaft. This shaft is supported at its rear end by a ball bearing (6) and drives the gearbox through a second universally jointed propeller shaft (7).
