TRUCKPOL IS hoping its future will be secured by the end of March when a decision is expected from the Home Office over the reinstatement of funding.
Head of unit at TruckPol's parent, the Association of Chief Police Officers' Vehicle Crime intelligence Service (AVCIS), Detective Constable Paul Lambotte, tells CM: -The Home Office has accepted we must find a way forward and it's a case of finalising how."
Although there is currently no government funding beyond March, Lambotte says he is pleased with the positive attitude the Home Office has shown during meetings.
Lambotte adds that the division has stakeholder funds to ensure it would not immediately collapse if the goveniment did not resume its £400,000 annual grant to AVCIS.
