HAULAGE AND distribution specialist CEL Group boosted pretax profits by almost half a million pounds in its latest financial year.
The Woodbridge. Suffolk firm owns container haulier W Carter and CEL Logistics. as well as a large shareholding in Felixstowe container operator Deben Transport. Its turnover rose by £8.6m to £56.3m in the year ending 31 August 2005: prc-i;ix profits rose from £861.338 to I .3m.
In the company's annual report directors Colin and Edward Carter say the firm has performed reasonably. despite the "relatively subdued marketplace."
They add: The group has stabilised its fleet at what ii perceives to he the current optimum level. These results are expected to be improved on following further consolidation and cost controls."
W Carter (haulage) made a pre-tax profit of £728.696. up slightly on 2004. Driver numbers also rose, from 257 to 307, Dehen Transport turned a 2004 pre-tax loss of £288,854 into a profit of £191,300 on a turnover of m. CEL Group owns just over 41% of Deben Transport.
