• Tarmac Roadstone Holdings Ltd. has ordered 12 fully insulated "U"-shaped tippers for carrying hot asphalt which will keep it at a workable consistency for over six hours. The vehicle has a 11 cu. yd. capacity. giving a 13+-ton payload and has a steel shell around which is a 11in. cavity filled with fibreglass enclosed by an aluminium alloy skin.
The insulation will be invaluable for long hauls of asphalt to motorway sites, but the vehicles will also be used hauling sand, gravel and aggregate.
Supplied by Anthony /Autolifts of Stanley, Co. Durham, the vehicles are fitted with, its model S16FC heavy-duty single front end tipping gear, having a four extension ram which lies below cab height when in the down position.
A balanced locking mechanism holds the tailboard well clear while tipping takes place and the body is complete with sheet tray, rope hooks, rubbing rail and tie bar.
