NEARLY 1300,000 a year Ns ill result from fare increases which the Scottish Licensing Authority has authorized the State-owned Scottish Omnibuses Group to introduce on April 5.
The proposals, which were expected to yield an estimated £385,000, were mainly that single fares from ld. to 9d. should be increased by id. (The Commercial Motor, March 5). In granting the increase, the Authority has ordered that the 3d. minimum remain.
The group consists of Scottish Omnibuses, Ltd., W. Alexander and Sons, Ltd., Western S.M.T. Co., Ltd., Central S.M.T. Co., Ltd., and D. Lawson, Ltd.
Other operators in the area are now expected to apply for permission to bring their fares into line.
